The Need To Make Beautiful Things

In a mad, mad world making beautiful things matters more than ever.

Words of wisdom from a cat

“We’re all mad here,” says the Cheshire Cat to Alice.

For many creators making art is not a choice. It’s a compulsion. Once an idea grips…down, down, down that delicious rabbit hole we fall.

I am no different.

Pssst…I’ll let you into a secret. I started Frida and Co. Design as an excuse to make my yarny creations without others thinking that my lifelong obsession with my little hook was a little unhinged. When I say “I am running a business, thanks”, I get some sage nods and hushed “ah, yes” like it was a noble pursuit.

I make my treasures because I have no choice. I am compelled …to create, to bring beauty into the world, one stitch at a time. And isn’t that just wonderfully mad?

We need a little madness and a lot of beauty

But here’s the thing: in this topsy-turvy world, we need a little madness. We need the dreamers, the makers, the ones who see possibility in a ball of yarn. So why not embrace it? Why not wear it proudly, like a badge of honour—or better yet, like a beautifully crafted piece from Frida and Co. Design?

After all, as the Cheshire Cat wisely said, “We’re all mad here.” And if that’s the case, we might as well be stylishly mad, don’t you think?

Go on, make something

So, my fellow Alice, my kindred spirit, my partner in creative crime—are you ready to take the plunge? To adorn yourself with a touch of whimsy, a dash of madness, and a whole lot of handmade love? Then hop on over to our wonderland of wearable art. Who knows? You might just find your own little piece of magic waiting for you.
